Comments on the appeal decision

"This appeal was very important. For Wimpey there were over £130M of homes at stake and their partner, the national housing and regeneration agency (HCA, Homes and Communities Agency) was trying to force through central government policy. It was a tough fight and I was surprised and delighted that the Secretary of State came down on the side of local government and residents.
This second triumph (we also won the appeal against 6 storey flats) proves that if enough local people unite, they are a formidable force. It was most important for a substantial number of residents to write in with timely comments; and the use of leaflets and email enabled us to achieve that.
This is a victory for all those residents and it certainly rewards the effort we put into SCRAM." Bob Pennell

"That is fantastic news! Well done all!" CL, The Parks

"So glad to hear the good news. I drove past The Parks today and was worried to see building work going on at the road edge. I suppose we can't expect Wimpey to accept this decision lying down... and they won't! But for the moment it is great news." MR, Harmanswater

"I really thought we would get pushed to one side, but lo and behold the little people have won! Well done to you; you've made it happen." PR, Harmanswater

"Congratulations and thank you for all your dedicated hard work in keeping everyone informed during the process. It might easily have fallen apart during their ongoing persistence but thankfully a wonderful central section of Bracknell has now been retained as Parkland." EP, Harmanswater

"... The group I am in is still fighting against Wimpey and has lawyers involved, but progress is slow, and the group is slightly out of momentum at the moment. I will use the good news from your site to motivate and encourage them to continue this battle with Wimpey because I firmly believe the truth is on our side and we will win one day like you guys have!" LW, Redhill

"Well done due again to all your hard work and others on the committee please relay our thanks." JY, Harmanswater

"To SCRAM and Cllrs Chris Turrell and Shelagh Pile, On behalf of The Ridgeway and Woodridge Close Residents' Association, congratulations on pulling off a fantastic result. This was a tough battle with the odds seemingly stacked in favour of Taylor-Wimpey. Thank you all for all your hard work. " J W-S, TRAWCRA

"It is so hard to believe the fantastic result. My sincere thanks to everyone involved. Without your support Chris and I would have had an almost impossible task. United we stand and it shows that residents can win" Cllr Shelagh Pile

"That is absolutely excellent news. I look forward to taking many walks on the fields when access becomes available." GT, The parks

"Absolutely delighted at the news, I shall make sure all residents know - we are pretty much there with a residents association for The Parks now. Also want to say a very big thank you to yourself, Chris and Alison who have helped me/us and all at the Parks by setting up and raising awareness for SCRAM. Fingers crossed Wimpey get the message and leave the rest alone." SC, The Parks

"That was absolutely joyous news, hearing that Wimpey's appeal was rejected." SH, The Parks

"Many thanks for the email and the clarification that we have had success with the appeal. The document I received was very lengthy and quite difficult to understand. I am wondering if they could still appeal against this decision. Be assured we would still want to object if this arose. However, for the moment we will enjoy our success." PA, Harmans Water

"I have just read your good news email on our return from family holiday. It is so pleasing to see good sense has prevailed. Scram and Cllr Chris Turrell have run a magnificent campaign which I have been delighted to support."Andrew Mackay
