Praz sur Arly is 20 mins by car. This is the view on Cret du Midi slopes at 1700m. From Praz you can do a circular ski tour through Notre Dame de Bellcombe and to les Saisies (see map). Chamonix is a 35 minute drive, largely motorway. It has three ski areas, all involving queues for cable cars. Les Saisies is a 45 minute drive. Mostly easy slopes and cross-country, but a couple of short steep runs. Les Gets is a 50 minute drive. Used to be a pretty village. Recently over-developed but not as much as neighbouring Morzine. Avoriaz is 10 minutes further on. Good skiing on Portes du Soleil but bad lift queues and a bit like Ibiza on snow! Flaine is a 50 minute drive. An original purpose built resort with no ambience but very good skiing for day trippers (nicer to ski there from les Carroz). La Clusaz is a 50 minute drive (because in winter Col des Aravis is closed). Bustling resort with lots of ski lifts. The Trois Valleys resorts like Méribel are about 1½ hours drive. So is La Plagne. Just through Motier but a shorter mountain road. Valmorel is a lesser known resort, before you reach Motier.
