It is important to match your level of ability. Higher performance equipment is more costly and harder to control, but equipment that is not up to your level will hold you back. Marin grades equipment like ski pistes -
"Green" is for beginners: for the first week or until starting parallels.
"Blue" is for parallel skiers who are not yet ready for high speeds, difficult reds, icy paths etc.
"Red" is for the majority who ski in any conditions but mainly on piste.
"Black" is for experts who demand more stability and control at high speeds, in powder, or on bumps.
