Our own apartments are in these two attractive chalet-style buildings in a tranquil spot near pine forests, meadows and ski runs just above the village, at 1150 metres (3800 feet). [Our friends' apartments are within a short walk]. There are superb walks from the door and, a ski drag lift just a few yards away. The private parking is plentiful and the absence of through traffic makes it safe for children to play.
Friends or family can holiday close together but with the added privacy and flexibility of separate accommodation. Uniquely, to allow for long weekends and off-peak travel one of our apartments changes over on Tuesdays.
Combloux is a charming Savoie village at the heart of a beautiful area with breathtaking scenery topped by views of nearby Mont Blanc. The ambiance is relaxed with many traditional farming communes, market towns and small family run restaurants throughout the mountains. We believe this is the most scenic and varied walking in Europe and there are a fantastic choice of other activities and excursions to enjoy - to say nothing of the cuisine!
You need a car to fully enjoy Combloux - and that's why it has kept its character! The surroundings are beautiful and there is no large central complex and no tour operators.
The area is wonderful in summer with hundreds of marked walks, lots of places to visit, and a host of activities as varied as golf, sailing, mountain climbing and flying. In winter the skiing is fantastic, whether you stay on the 100 kms of local pistes, explore the 460 kms shared with Megève and les Contamines, or sample several famous resorts that are within an hour by car.
The apartments are modern and well designed with ample storage space, electric heating, and independent hot water supply. We originally bought and equipped them for our own family use, so the equipment is more comprehensive than most commercial lettings and includes such homely comforts as French TV and English videos, some books, board games and radio/cassette/CD.

Our service is a unique feature. As is normal in France, our guests are asked to clean the apartment on departure, but unlike many other lettings, we then have a manager who comes in to ensure quality - and makes up the beds with fresh linen to await the next tired voyagers!
The weekly rental includes a charge of 20 pounds per person, regardless of age, to cover all consumables like management, laundry, TV licence, community charges, electricity, water and telephone. Thus everything is included as fairly as possible.
