Summer Holiday Ideas

We illustrated a selection of things on the "What's to do" page. lets put it into a possible itinery.

Get to know the village - If you drive down parking is free. Walk down from our apartments route along Chemin de Mowgly and Balancerie; or longer route past the Montagnards farm and across the meadow through the path beside Hotel Coeur des Pres towards the church.

Be sure to visit the tourist office for latest information, have a drink or snack in the Postillon, walk down to the Plan d'Eau and possibly go in to bathe. This open air pool has a magnficent view of mont Blanc. The sun heats the water to a temperature of 19-26°C and it is kept pure and crystal clear by circulation through a fountain, reed beds and waterfall.

Also look inside the baroque church. The nearby Coin Savoyarde is a good value for lunch. (The lunchtime "menu du jour" is usually good value in this region). We also like "la Ferme" (down opposite the Postillon), and "Chez Stef" pizzeria.

The souvenir shops are interesting to browse and you will not be hassled; and the small Casino is handy for minor items but we use larger supermarkets for the weekly shop.

The market is held on Wednesday mornings in Combloux

Enjoy the local walks - from our apartments there is a circular route that takes just over an hour: left along the chemin de Mowgly, up through the trees to la Cry, just after the "Tire Fesse" restaurant take the footpath beside the ski nursery slopes up to Cuchet, turn right on the lane across the ski pistes, keep right, then descend via the Chemin des Granges and loop back along route du Vernay.

For a longer route you can walk or bike to the bottom of Jaillet gondola - possibly stop for a drink or snack and maybe check out the luge - before taking the lift to the top. Another possible stop is the "Petite Ravine" which you pass on the way back down to the apartments.

In summer 2017 the very nice Bonjournal restaurant will open each day from 9am to 7pm. That can be reached by various routes from the top of Jaillet or the top of Pertuis lifts, or by driving up to the base of Christomet lift.
